I am wanting to paint a chest of drawers for my daughters bedroom. I am planning on using a latex semi-gloss paint for the project (left over paint, matches the room, can't afford to put alot into this). Wanting to know if I can put a clear coat or lacquer on top? Appreciate any input or ideas...never done anything like this before.
Thanks, Kara.

Kara:
I would advise against putting lacquer over the painted product for a number of reasons. First, the lacquer is not as durable as a good semigloss paint. Second, "Clear lacquer" is a misnomer. Most lacquers have an amber cast to them which will change the color you've painted the furniture. Additionally, lacquer will yellow further with age, changing the color even more. This same warning (about color) is equally applicable to standard varnish and most (not all) polyurethanes...
