My wife and I have recently bought our first home. The previous owners had done a lot to remodel the the 17 year old home. Including a remodel of the kitchen. The only thing they did not install was a dishwasher. We know that we want an under the counter model.

My questions are:

What do I need to look for in a dishwasher?
What things should I make sure I have to make the connections?
Is this something I can install my self, or is it recommended to have it proffessionally installed?

The location of the dishwasher is next to the kitchen sink. Will that make it easier to install?

What special tools will I need?
