View Full Version : burner not working

Only one of the burners on my furnace is working. There are two burners and only one works. It is running fine with only one, but I am afraid it will make my gas bill skyrocket. Hoping it is a simple solution, or something I am missing. Thank you.

Hello tcook72

Welcome to the forum and the web site.

Based on the problem discription, I'd venture to say there is a spider in the burner orifice. Based upon where the furnace may be located and several other factors, not all that uncommon of a problem either.

Best method to clear the unwanted guest is to remove the effected and insert a pipe cleaner into the orifice to dislodge and remove the spider and the web it is in.

If the burner is difficult to remove or you prefer not to remove it, angle the pipe cleaner by bending it and pushing it into the orifice. May take some time and several attempts but usually the task can be accomplished in this manner too.

BTW:{By The Way}
Usually it's a very tiny white spider. Using the pipe cleaner method of attack takes the spider by "SURPRISE." But not to worry. Rarely is the spider found alive...:D

Thanks Tom,

The burner was blocked. I thought it was probably something simple I was overlooking. Its fixed and running perfect.
