Hi! It is necessary for me to replace my ceramic tile in bathroom. Do you recommend tile, linoleum, or carpet? My grown son is recommending carpet. I am a little leery of this as afraid it would get wet. Also, what colors (no matter what is decided) would you recommend? My walls are wine with beige specks...Now the floor is white...the other carpet in my house is rose...my colors are rose, blue & off-white. Thanks so much!

What floor covering you choose may depend on your budget as well as the type of floor covering you desire and the amount of activity in your bath. Tile is an easy maintenance floor covering. It tends to cost more than vinyl, depending on underlayment requirements, tile selection, and installation fees. Both tile and vinyl are considered 'smooth surface' for ease of cleaning. Carpet, although favored by some because it is soft, does not lend itself to cleaning and disinfecting and can lend itself to some additional nightmares if there are excessive moisture issues. As far as color goes, most folks go with a neutral that lends itself to changing color schemes. Again, it is a matter of personal taste, the mood you want to create, and maintenance issues, as well as budget.
