I just had a dual Heatpump system put in. 2 Levels.
Main level is where all traffic is. Master Bedroom too. There is about 1300 sqf. The upstairs is 2 bedrooms and a play area. about 800 sqf. What should I set my temps at. I know this sounds crazy but I dont know.
I like it cool in my house. I got the downstairs at:
0400-70
0600-80
1600-70
0000-80
Upstairs is not used. Just when company is in and they can adjust the temps when they are here. Here are the temps as of now.
0800-70
1000-80
2000-70
0000-80
I have programmable digital therms. Heard 10 dgrs difference is best for them for saving money. Can I adjust the upstairs temps higher w/o be counter productive. How does this all sound to yah.
TIA

1) I presume 0400 (et cetera) is military time.
2) Downstairs: I would recommend sleeping cool as well (70) and setting the temperature up only while at work. If the unit recovers from 80 before you get home and you are not uncomfortable at suppertime, leave the day setback as is. Never forget that COMFORT is the whole reason to even own an air conditioner.
3) Upstairs: turn it OFF except for when you have company. In the winter set it at 55 or 60 degrees F all of the time to protect the plumbing from freezing.

Im sorry but I only understood a little of ur reply.....
The just of it was to leave the down stairs a is and totally cut off the up stairs?
Wont that be counter productive. It gets so hot up there. Wont that hot air come down the steps where my down stairs therm is?....I know hot air rises. but the intake vents suckit down?....there are 2 at the base of the stairs.

Try the downstairs at:
0400-70
0600-80
1600-70
0000-70 (Sleep cool)
Upstairs set OFF or try
0800-85
1000-85
2000-85
0000-85
The 2nd floor will get warm but who cares if it is unoccupied. The heat from upstairs will not affect the downstairs unit much.
If the downstairs unit runs longer but gets the job done you will maximize your savings and still be comfortable where you live. (Short running cycles are inefficient.)
