What is the concensus on using a solid latex stain to get a little more life out of the decking ? Any and all, please reply..

DON'T!
A solid latez or acrylic stain will not give any more longevity to a deck. It will only give you headaches. Since you can't cover all six sides of the the wood it will absorb moisture. In two or three years it WILL be cracking and peeling, and you'll be worse off than not applying anything. It will be either very difficult to remove or more expensive to have someone remove it for you.
I suggest an oil-base toned stain with UV protection and water repellency. There are a number of good ones available but you can only expect three or maybe four years service.
The sun's UV will take it's toll.
