I recently had hardwood floors installed and had the contactor leave a space for me to tile in front of the door. He told me to polyurethane the exposed part of the hardwood and to have a grout line in between the wood and the tile. Is this OK? WIll I damage the wood?

Is the new tile going to be same thickness as hardwood? If yes you OK, leave same thick grout line between wood as on other field tile, If ya worked for me and damaged the existing wood, you wood not work for me again. ya probably should have done the tile first. just my opinion someone probably has a better one.
