Am replacing a small foyer of 12'x12' ceramic tiles with floating flooring. How do I remove the whole tiled section?

Unless height is an issue, why can't you float the new floor over the old? To remove ceramic tile, you'd better roll up your sleeves, get some safety goggles, hammers and chisels and prepare for much work. It won't be like carving Mt. Rushmore, but it is not a small task. For advice from a forum of tile pros, scoot on over to http://www.johnbridge.com. Those guys don't only set tile straight, they will set you straight on what you need to do.
Best regards.
