I have a small dilemma in the bathroom off of my master bedroom. It was a ceramic tile shower stall, and most of the tile on the lower half of the stall was cracked. The floor of the shower was also tile, just put on top of plywood with felt paper underneath. Needless to say, after some exploring we found the plywood had been absorbing water from the shower, and when we ripped up the tiles, the wood came with it! We had planned on just putting in new plywood under a newer shower base, but what I am wondering is..... can you interchange the floor drains of the toilet and the shower? I saw a diagram that showed the two drains join together under the floor and go out to the city sewer. I would love to be able to change the two around, there would be tons more space in the shower. Obviously, I wouldn't want to do this if there is going to be some kind of bad odor coming up through my new shower drain! Could you please help me out with this one?

No, you can't do that without re-plumbing both.
Look above at the "Build/Remodel" section and the "Repair/Fix-It" section (Plumbing) for illustrated general info.
Good Luck! Mike

Shawn,
Beware. There's a guy hangs around this site by name of Mike S. Calls himself Old Guy. Never did a lick of plumbing in his life. ;)
John (not that much of a plumber either) Bridge
