I have a question about freon levels/ bubbling in the sight glass of our central a/c unit.

I know that when the freon line is fully charged, there should be no bubbling in the sight glass.

Does this change with outside temperature? If the outside temp drops to the 80's daytime/60's nighttime, would there be some bubbling in the line? I was told once that this could be the case. We've had temps around 100 or higher until just recently, and the a/c has been cooling us just fine.

I'm hoping we don't have a leak again. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes,for all intents and purposes, bubbles can show at lower outside temps.Next time the outside temp. is hot and a/c is running and sight glass is clear, spray outdoor coil with garden hose and watch sight glass. It's MAGIC.You made bubbles appear.Stop spraying coil.Watch sight glass. It will clear again. One important note. The sight glass, the dot in the middle should be bright green.PDF
