Had a brilliant (?) idea yesterday, last night, this morning . . . stripping down the kitchen floor of two layers of ceramic tiles, to the original 1920's ceramic tiles.
Question: are there any tips for easy removal of left over grout and stuff? It seems to come off varily easy when you wet it down and scrape with a puddy knife.
Will this damage the floor tiles?
Can we used a hand sander with a fine grit paper?
What to do?
And, then what do we do for regular maintainence?
Enquiring minds (my wife) wants to know!

If you can wet it and soften it, it's not grout or thin set, i.e. "cement." Don't use any type of sander if you want to retore what's under. Are you sure you're talking about ceramic tile (made from clay)?
