in our bedroom we use a roller blind which is of cardboard
construction and the problem is it doesn't want to roll back
up. the blind is about 70 inches in length and we tried
rolling it three quarters of the way up and winding the
spring up tight but it only works once and gives up the
ghost.
please help

Sorry to have to say this, but in my experience with roller blinds, the inner workings may just be shot. The spring may have lost too much of its strength, or pieces holding the spring in place may have broken. You may just have to replace the whole assembly. Most home improvement centers have a decent selection of rollers blinds in many sizes. Good Luck!
