I would like to change the faucets and spout and shower head in my bathtub. The builder put in a cheap looking set and I would like to go with a more expensive one. How can you do this without replacing the pipe behind the wall? I don't want to take the tub out just to have a more attractive faucet. Thank you Pam C.

You can easily replace the tub spout, the shower arm, the showerhead, and the faucet handles without changing the faucet body in the wall. They are all that show.
The shower arm, showerhead and tub spout just unscrew counter-clockwise. (The tub spout may have a set screw under it. Check for one, and loosen it with an Allen wrench before trying to unscrew the spout.)
Pop the centerpiece of the handles off with a knife, unscrew the screws holding the handles on, and replace the handles.
To dress it up, you may want to consider using a brass shower arm, brass showerhead, and brass tub spout.
Wrap 2-3 flat turns of teflon tape around all male threads before assembling.
Good Luck! Mike
