hello i am about to lay some stone tiles onto all of these surfaces. the wall starts out plaster turns into plwood then into concrete! more or less linear 13"x20'. it will be a backsplash in a kitchen. the counter top is laminate with a 3"backsplash and the tile will go above it,thew question i have is do i need to use backerboard?any help is appreciated also with stone mastic or thin set thnks richie

Richie,
I think with all those different surfaces you ought to install quarter-inch backer board. You can thinset it up and nail it where possible (not to the concrete)and tape the joints with fiberglass tape. Use a mid-grade modified thin set. Versa Bond, Flex Bond, or equal.
