Hi,
I'm planning to install pre-finished 3"-wide maple in my 200 sq. ft. living room. How much extra wood should I order? I've heard 5% and 10%. Also, how much space do I have to leave around walls, etc for expansion? I think it was supposed to be 1/2", but I want to make sure.
This is my first attempt at this, though I installed parquet in a hallway last month. Any other useful advice?
Thanks for the help!

Paul:
Considering it's a small area, 5% waste would work fine and so would the 1/2" expansion area. Other useful advice? You'll find many tips if you read through the vast number of messages here, and at the following link.
