my husband is trying to drill through ceramic tile. it keeps breaking. he'd like to ask if there is a way to drill without breaking the tile.

Hi Peaceful,

Tiles are usually drilled after installation. The solid bedding keeps them from shattering. Pre-drilling must be done very slowly. You can't apply a lot of pressure, as you've learned.

Additionally, some tiles can't be drilled with carbide masonry bits.. The really hard stuff, porcelains, etc. require diamond bits.
