My mother in law wants me to build a platform in place of the deterorating cement steps at her back door.
She wants me to build a 4' wide by 3' deep platform with 2 steps down to the ground.
My question is; Is 2x6 framing on 4x4 posts strong enough for this project or do I need to use larger material sizings? It will not be attached to the house.
Thanks for the feed back and assistance.

Money Pitt,
You might want to check your local codes, but 2 x6s on 4 x 4 posts certainly should be sufficient.

Thanks for all input. I did use all Pressure Treated materials on 6 PP 4x4s 2" deep to prevent frost heaving. Railings on both sides using 4x4 to carry rails as well. I think it looks nice and it held all 4 of us w/out any moans.
Again thanks for the feedback.
