I've never heard of antique red pine and would like some more information. Because of smoke damage my restored 1946 bungelow is undergoing a complete interior refurbishing. The living room floor I knew I wanted to have sanded, stained & refinished. My back bedroom had some old awful carpet that I pulled up to see what the wood looked like under it. My contractor recommended putting something down to cover the floor again in the back bedroom. The floor refinisher said both floors were antique red pine and that antique red pine was an expensive wood that enhanced the value of the home and its 40s appearance. I like wood floors, but have no knowledge about antique red pine. Can anyone give me some information or where I can find information.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Ooooh, you are in possession of an absolutely beautiful floor. Such floors come from the heart of the tree and sometimes are referred to as heart pine. These are being salvaged from old homes and being sold as reclaimed wood. They are rare and beautiful. You will find a much better description than mine at http://www.woodfloorsonline.com. If at all possible please try to reclaim your floors. Best wishes.

Thanks for the help. I got one dynamic response to my request for information. Did the suggested homework and was able to tell my floor refinisher, what I wanted for the living room and bedroom. The best part is that it looks wonderful and the bedroom floor, which my contractor had recommended replacing, has been returned to its previous gracious beauty!!!

Congratulations! You know what they say here at DIY, "If you want it done right, DIY." There is no floor covering as beautiful as hardwood floors. Best wishes.
