What is the best solution to use to clean asphalt shingles? We have an area on our roof (under an overhang) which collects a lot of dirt and discolors the shingles. Any and all advice is welcome.

Thanks.

klm, i imagine it's time to start learning the ins and outs of pressure washers. if it's just a small spot, go to paint store and get TSP tri-sodium-phosphate and follow directions. it's a cheap powder that you mix with bleach.
have a great day!

my thoughts,if you clean a shingle you are wiping the stones off the shingle.they are there to extend the life of shingle.i guess i would take one of those pump up sprayers that they use for bugs and just spray the area where you want clean hose it off after and definatly not rub scrape or any of that. bleach and water works about as good as anything.geez i wish that was all i had to worry about,my roof is dirty.sorry, just a bit of sarcasm i couldnt resist
