I finally realized what my hideous dresser was made out of- MDF with Melamine paper fused to the outside. I want to change the look of the dresser. Can I repaint Melamine? Can I remove it from the MDF and repaint that? Any experiences/advice are greatly appreciated.

Removing the melamine is almost impossible - but it can be painted. Snad thoroughly, prime, and paint. Check with your local paint dealer for his suggestion on the type of primer and paint to use.
