I bought some slate (12"x12"/about a 1/2" thick and square) from Home Depot. I currently have ceramic tile down in my house. Can I lay the slate over the tile or do I have to take the tile up? If I can lay it over the tile what should I use to bed the slate (Thin Set or something else)? If I have to take the tile up what should I use to bed the slate? What is the easiest way to get the tile up? It is on a concrete floor. Thanks for your help, BS

BS,
You can go over the tile with polymer modified thin set, one designed to go over existing tiles.
Rent a chipping hammer to take the tile up if you go that route. Modified thin set then.
Make sure there is not dust on the backs of the slate pieces as you set them.
