I am re-tiling my bathroom floor, and I have removed all the old tiles. What is the best way of smoothing or removing the old thinset that has been applied to a concrete slab?

Ryan,
The easiest thing to do is skim over the high spots with new thin set and let it harden. Then come in with your new tiles.
