I'm replaceing an existing vinyl floor in a small bathroom with 8" ceramic tile. Do I remove the toilet and tile under it? If so, this will raise the height of the toilet from its previous level. Is there anything special I need to do when I reinstall the toilet besides getting a new wax ring?

Yes, you'll tile under the toilet. Home Depot is selling a wax ring called an "extender," I think. It's thicker than the usual ones. Otherwise, you can use two wax rings if you have to.

You didn't mention what you're putting the tiles onto. Wood floor? Concrete slab?
