Thanks George, I'll try it. As for the colorwashing, with a slightly different shade, do i need to water down the paint a little first?

It couldn't hurt, but just a little. The main thing is using a damp rag to remove what you don't want on the 'over coat' - with latex paint this mkaes it easy.
