I want to paint my kitchen's laminate backsplash. It is awful and I cannot afford to replace right now. I heard it can be done. I just want to know how to do it right so it doesn't flake.

tdykema, I'll tell you how to get by on this but need to let others seeing this that it is not a long term solution. Clean it with a liquid deglosser and let dry. Sand with 180 grit sandpaper and wipe clean. Prime with either 100% acrylic latex primer or oil or shellac based primer. Each seems have its good points on laminate and all will work. Paint with whatever you would like but an oil would clean and hold up longer.....Mike
