PLEASE HELP!!!! We just bought a new home and had these beautiful black granite tiles installed (kitchen countertop). This weekend we made margaritas (acidic liquid). Unfortunately we ran out to a baseball game. The next morning we noticed stains all over the countertop, where the mixer was. We were informed that the countertop is pouros and we should just let it dry 7-8 days. It's really not fading though. Does anyone know how to remove the stain? Do we need to replace it? Is there any hope??? Thank you in advance for any advise.

The area etched by the acid can be buffed and polished out and the surface sealed. Perhaps you will find http://www.stonecare.com informative and helpful in learning how to care for natural stone products. All natural stone products need to be sealed because they are porous. Good luck.

Granite, unlike marble, is not highly succeptible to acids. It's possible your tiles are just stained and not etched. In which case I would suggest you try "poultice" obtainable from a tile and marble supplier.

When you get the stains out, seal the surface with a sealer recommeded for granite. I recommend Aquamix.
