I know...everyone must be sick of the topic, but I don't know whether the stuff in my attic should be removed or not before adding new. It got pretty wet in the attic when the roofers punched some holes in the felt during a storm (the attic leaked BEFORE that...so whatever insulation was there is probably pretty much toast by now I figure). I don't even know what kind it is...but from reading these posts, it seems some of it is the batting kind (nailed to the walls) and the woolly type on the floor? It's pretty crumbly and grey. Frankly, I'd just rather leave it there and add the new on top. And if new stuff is "blown in", will it blow all that gross stuff around too? Don't worry, I'll have "adult supervision" doing this! I'd just like to know as much as possible beforehand. Thanks!
