I'm thinking of building a wooden cover over my concrete patio. What are some common ways or the best way to tie into the roof line or the side of the house?

Thanks,
Jeff

One of the best things that I have learned to do is to go to the library. If you aren't sure where to look for say porches, patio covers, etc., just ask the librarian. I use a branch library and they have quite a selection of information on these types of projects. Some of these books contain step by step directions, and you'll find that there are quite a few different styles, constructions, and materials that you can choose from. If you are attaching this to the house you might want to check your local building codes, and also see if any permits are needed before you start. Good luck.

I am also planning to build a "patio cover" or whatever people call it these days and I plan to tie it to my house using ledger boards and using 2x6 joist hangers. Since I am outside city limits I have no building restrictions:D My cover is going to be 32ft wide by 11ft out with a 4/12 pitch and am going to use 6 4x4 posts anchored to my concrete patio with 4x4 concrete anchors that you can buy at Home Depot, Lowes, etc.
