I have just laid a solid wood floor and now require to fit the skirting boards. The angles are anything but 90 degrees and i need to know how to transfer the actual angle of the wall on to the skirting board for sawing.

Check your local home center (Lowe's, Home Depot) or good hardware store. you should find what you need in the tool section with the tape measures, squares, and other layout tools. You should find a couple of different types for doing what you want, a sliding t-bevel for instance. Only problem is that you will be measuring the full angle (89 degrees, 90 1/2 degrees, whatever) and your miters are half this amount so you will still have to custom cut each corner. If the angle is 89 degrees for example, the miters are 44 1/2, so you would need to start with 45 degree cuts (I'm hoping you have a miter saw) and take a little more off each side of the corner (both pieces) until the angle matches what you have on your layout tool. Liable to be a fair amount of trial and error involved. Good luck.
