I am about to tackle a huge job, painting the paneling in my den and all my kitchen cabinets. I have several ?? 1. What do I need to do for prep? I have heard to use liquid sander to help strip the laquer, then use KILZ.Is this a good investment? 2. What is the very best quality brand paint to buy? 3. I am planning on using a paint sprayer, but want a very high quality job, no spits and inconsistency in paint, but smooth; even if it takes 4 coats. "Air compressor" or "Airless"? I also heard you can rent airless sprayers at rental places, but will they be high quality? Any help or step by steps from anyone who has had success and satisfaction in their work would be so much appreciated!

Haven't heard from anyone yet on painting the paneling in my den. I start tomorrow (8/13) and am running out of time. Thanks!

Prime it first with a good quality primer sealer. Oil based would be good but takes longer to dry than water based.
Either air or airless spraying is ok. Get a good one with plenty of power. Find out if you have to thin the paint or if it can shoot right out of the can. (Note: even if it says you can shoot right out of the can you may have to thin as some paints are thicker than others).
Wear something better than a cheap dust mask when spraying.

Thanks for the info. I was getting desperate for a reply and I feel more confident about the job now. I'm getting Benjamin Moore paints as I have heard they are high quality. Wish me luck on the sprayer!
