I just installed 4x4 posts for a pretty big deck that I'm building and I'm a little concerned. They are really wobbly. I tightened the nut as far as I could without truly overtightening it, and I nailed the posts into the anchors pretty well. Is this a problem, or do they become stable once they have the weight of the girders, joists and decking on them. I really don't want to start over with the posts, but that'll be a lot better than rebuilding an entire deck! Please help!

how high are your posts? Metal post bases do not provide lateral support on their own
Set up diagonal braces to support posts until beams joists etc are finished

The posts are about 3 feet tall. I've got makeshift supports to hold them steady while I put the girder in place. Do I need diagonals after I put the rest of the deck up?
