When I bought my house, the concrete block basement walls had some horizontal cracking and slight bowing. To be safe I had my basement walls reinforced with poured pilasters every six feet, and tuckpointed, 9 months ago. I have noticed that some of the mortar that was tuckpointed has developed hairline cracks. Does this mean I had all this work done for nothing, and the wall is still continuing to move?

For nothing > have the walls collapsed. Single phase symptomatic solutions: a gorilla on one side of the door; you on the other side holding it closed. Tranquilize the gorilla or fill the basement with concrete. One way to be sure: install a crack monitor http://www.crackmonitor.com/

Hello
Morter will crack if the crack have not opened up, keep an eye on them, see if there are any changes if not later reseal the cracks...Good Luck....
