I want to convert my garage into a media room. Can anyone tell me the best/most economical/diy friendly way to put drywall up over cinder block?

Attach furrowing strips (1 by 2's) on block on 16" center and attach drywall to strips as you would in new contruction. Be careful to get nails/screws for drywall in short enough length to avoid going into the blocks. And take into consideration existing wall plugs and switches plus any add-ons that may be needed.

Thanks for the info
When you say
"Attach furrowing strips (1 by 2's) on block"
How should I go about doing this,
can I screw or nail or should I use "liquid nails"
If I should nail, is there a special nail I should use
and should I rent a nail gun?
Thanks again for your help.

I don't like to use nails on block, but ask an experienced employee at home supply store about best way to attach the strips. Think I would go with a few lead sinkers(little more work. Drilling holes, etc..) and maybe some adhesive if possible. Haven't had much experience with the adhesives on block. But ask someone who has experience with it. May have something made especially for this app.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Some do use adhesive for drywall between the screws/nails (top, bottom and middle).
