Have recently been introduced to the term " fire tape". I am building bedroom above garage . Bedroom is open to rest of upstairs so there is no firewall between garage and upstairs. I am installing two sheets of 5/8 drywall on ceiling of garage below bedroom for firewall per city code (Attica , MI.) to take care of fire code. Just wondering if this fire tape may also be part of code or does it pertain to some other application ?
