thanks to all for your answers..

I have a concrete back proch on ground level with a slight pitch for drainage, it is about 4 inches below the door and I would like to put a wood deck to cover it (it doesn't look very nice) any suggestions?

thanks in advance,
kevin

you can easily make your porch into a wooden deck

1 nail 2x4 sleepers every 16" on the flat with a powder actuated nailer

2 then just deck over the joists like a normal deck-with rim joists thick enough to cover up the concrete patio

2x4 plus thickness of 2x6 decking will be 3 " leaving 1 inch so water and snow dont run over your threshold

If your lumber yard carries .60 PT wood i would use this for the 2x4 sleepers

HOpe this helps------josh
