My husband and I are remodeling our living room by refinishing the beautiful wood floors found under carpet, and repainting the walls. Should we do the floors before we paint or can we paint then do the floors? I don't want to spend the money on paint and then have to repaint.
Thanks--grammy

Sand your floors down and finish them first.
Put down sheets on your wonderful new floor before painting the walls.

Personally, I would do it the other way around. Start at the ceiling and work down. That way if you make a mess on the floor, it is the old floor and not the new one. The final touch to the room is a new floor.

Problem is,them floor sanders throw up so much muck!!
Dust on the ceilings, walls ect. I like to get all of the prep work done first before painting. That includes floors, bearing in mind that they must be sealed & finished before decorating commences to avoid paint stains, dirty boots or general contamination,etc...
Just make sure they are well covered.. C`mon...You know it makes sense!!

Must agree with toptosher. The dust created when using drum sanders seems to have static properties and sticks to everything in a room icluding ceilings, walls and light fixtures if they are up. Any paint is easily wiped from a fresh floor after the final coat has cured a day or two....Mike
