Am re-modeling a small bathroom and after removed wallpaper and wallpaper glue, I found plaster with paint on half the bathroom and then around the tub/shower and toilet, I found drywall (it's brown and cardboardlike in texture). I don't know what's behind it, I think plaster, but I wanted to pain the entire bathroom and am unsure as how to paint over drywall that's this texture. Spoke to a contractor and he said to buy drywall compound (?) and put that on first, sand and then prime... is this correct? How much time and money is this goint to take? Should I hire someone to do it? The size of this wall is small.
