I'm going to be replacing the A/C unit & when the time comes should I replace it with a unit that uses Puron as opposed to Freon?

Are you inferring that a Puron system will be much more than a Freon based one? Also, do you know when the phase out period for Freon is? Thanks PDF...

2010.I attended a York seminar.R-410a or PURON uses a different oil for lubrication. If your current system was installed with traps or uneven piping that might retain old mineral oil.....the recommendation is to install new piping. If an R-22,newer system,is installed, not to worry. If an R-22 unit is replacing an older system you benefit from a better SEER rating. If an a/c system is taken care of and maintained it will last 10-15 years. If not it may only last 8-10 years.SO,in 8-10 years a PURON system will be mandatory.PDF
