The office in our house is always a disaster. It consists of a large, built-in desk with shelves almost to the ceiling. It is all open and loaded with junk. So, thinking I could hide some of the mess, I made skirts for the desk and attached with velcro. I'd seen this done somewhere, but can't remember where. Well, it looks odd and unbalanced and I want to put doors on the shelves above the desk. Each side is about 46" wide with molding separating the two sides and the shelves are approximately 4 feet from bottom shelf to top. Any suggestions on the easiest, cheapest, and best way to make doors that will look fairly nice? It is all wood and stained a deep cherry color. The fabric for the skirt is a muted grey. Any ideas on making the skirt look better or should I just go ahead and build out wood doors here also? You can see the velcro that I've attached it with when you're sitting at the desk.
One of these days maybe I'll finish one room before starting another...still not done with the playroom... :)

Before going to any more trouble and expense in your office, I would suggest going through the mess, sorting, filing, and throwing out. Get it and yourself organized. If necessary, purchase some file cabinets. Don't save a whole magazine just for that one article. Cut it out and file it in a file. Keep the reference books, first editions, etc. Pass on the paperbacks that you've read onto the library book sale. Your bookshelves sound wounderful. I love open bookshelves with books, collectibles, photos, etc. Stop by a local office supply store to get some organizing ideas. The secret is to keep only what you really need.
