I have a 5,000 btu Frigidaire window unit a/c in a room upstairs we use for an office (computer, etc.). As you can imagine, it gets brutally hot up there. Can a unit such as this run continuously for an extended time (a few days?) and does it matter from an energy/efficiency standpoint whether it's run on low or high? The room is approximately 150 sq ft. Thanks in advance for the help.

with the added heat upstairs and computer heat load.A 7 or 8 btu unit would be better. It would cycle off and on.Just remember when the window a/c runs constantly it also removes all moisture from area. Not a bad thing for some people.Leave fan on high, point vents upwards to blow cooler air to ceiling, thus returning warmer air to cooling coil. The faster the air flow the more "air changes" per hour.PDF
