Hey All,
I just wanted to share a story of what happened at the beginning of this summer. Hubby put the AC in the window, turned in on, and NOTHING happened. After cursing up a storm, he said "Well, this thing is done." He almost threw it away, he was so mad! I approached things more logically.
Turns out, it was the grey, three prong adapter plug that was bad, and NOT the AC!!! We have to plug it into a 220 line, plugging the AC into the grey adapter plug. I got him a new plug, he plugged in the AC, and wah-lah. Just a reminder to start with the small things, and THEN work up to the big ones!
By the way, that same darn AC now does not blow cold air, and after I find the model number (Sears), I'm going to be posting a question of whether or not we should chuck it, or repair it.

Dear PDF,
Yes, it blows air just fine, but it's not cold air.
I read the manually thoroughly, and I'm going to take the cabinet apart, and check for debris between the radiator and the condenser. Also, I'm going to cover the electrical parts with plastic, as per manual, and hose off real good. While the cabinet is apart, I'm going to pull the oil plugs out, and check the oil. I understand that there are oil capsules sold that are specifically for this purpose?
Does this sound like it's worth the trouble? We know it's not the 220 line, because we just borrowed an AC from dad, and that one is working fine, but it's just a temporary loan during this Eastern PA heat wave. I still have to decide what to do about the Sears unit.
Please post back..... Thank YOU!
P.S. What I meant in the first post was, the unit WAS
working just fine, but the adapter plug was the
problem. Hubby overreacted, and when I changed the
grey, three-pronged plug, the AC was perfect - until
lately...........
