My Kitchen Aid gas dryer stopped heating. It turns but
it does not heat.
After opening it, I found that the gas burner was not
working. I checked the ignitor and it seems ok as
it glows when I connect it by itself on a 120V outlet.
Next, I replaced the 2 coils that operate the 2
gas valves. Still the ignitor does not glow, no clicks
from the valves opening/closing. Nothing, just silence!
Any clues?
Thanks very much.

Hello Hudson and Welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site and my Gas Appliance forum.
Glow Coil:
Even though you checked it, the glow coil must glow intensely bright. It must be HOT and glow an INTENSE bright yellow orange color. If not, it's considered to be burned out.
Timer:
Control center for all functions. The timer has contacts and as it advances through the cycles, one of those contacts can become stuck open for any one of several reasons.
Timers also have cams <lobes> that open and close those contact points. If the timer hangsup on a lobe, it may advance to the next cycle but not activate the cycle.
If the timer or any other selection switch, on the front control panel, is suspected of causing the existing problem your having with the appliance, be sure all selections are correctly set. If they are, the timer or other function selected switch may be defective.
Timers and switches can be checked for continuity using an ohm meter or continuity tester. Timers and switches are a non repairable items.
Flame Sensor:
This part is located on the burner housing. If it's defective, it will cause the problem your discribing. It too can be tested.
Safety Reminder:
ALWAYS be positive you have unplugged the electrical power and turned off the gas supply to the appliance prior to attempting any repairs!
Check the archives, within this forum, for other postings on this topic for further information. It is adviseable to inspect, clean the exhaust venting system whenever working on a dryer.
