I HAVE A SEVERE PROBLEM WITH BROWN DUSTY FIBERS ALL OVER THE HOUSE.

WE CLEAN AND DUST & MOP FLOORS REGULARLY 2-3 TIMES A WEEK BUT THE DUSTY FIBERS ARE ALL OVER EVERYTHING IN A MATTER OF DAYS.

OUR HOME IS 90 % TILE FLOORS.

I CHANGE THE A/C FILTERS EVERY 30 DAYS

ANY SUGGESTIONS TO THE PROBLEM

Hello and Welcome LCS to the Do It Yourself Web Site.

Your most likely suspecting these fibers are coming from and ducting of the heating and cooling system. If so, you could very well be correct.

If it's possible, try not running the heating/cooling unit for a day or two and see if those fibers return. Most likely not. That will verify the source.

Some older model furnaces actually had thick fiber pads inside the air filter compartment to dampen noise. These could be those fibers you finding within the house.

If the fibers are coming from the existing ducting, best bet is to totally replace all ducting with the current premade ducting material.

True Story:
I once saw insulation installed INSIDE metal ducting. I almost didn't believe what I was actually seeing. However, it was correct. Seeing is believing!

The story varies. The version I heard was the manufacturer installed the insulation inside the ducting as a measure of further idea to insulate the warm air from the cooler exterior metal.

This trick worked for many years until the insulating material began to deteriorate. Best as I can remember, the effected homes where built 40+ years ago. Costs to replace existing effected ducting was at the owners expense.
