How does one repair the worn sash on this old fashion window? Specifically, how do you get to the mechanism (weight) that allows the window to go up and down without taking the entire window apart? Thank you!

If you have counter-balance weights, you should be able to access them by removing the 1X6 trim on the interior side of the window. Be very careful doing it and you should be able to reuse the same trim.
