Stumbled across a deal. I hope. A Trane 120000 BTU propane forced air furnace about 5-6 years old with only one winter of actual service along with a Lennox AC unit exact age and capacity unknown or not understood. (2 ton?) Removed from a house of about 2500 square feet. The price for both units is $350.00. I haven't a clue as to whether it's a steal or something to avoid. The 2200 square foot house we are rennovating has central heat but no AC and the system is 30 years old so is somewhat suspect, especially when considering the adding of the AC part. What are we up against when trying not to break the bank on this project home?

upon the unit being checked. An HVAC "TECH" can at least ohm the compressor windings. He or she can also visually inspect the heat exchanger and "sound" it for cracks. It may cost you 50 bucks or so....but we've all heard that "It's too good of a deal to pass up".PDF
