Hello, I am looking for suggestions on how to resolve a problem of interior doors that swing open/close when I put them in opposite condition.

I have removed these doors and hinges from jambs for painting purposes. They have since been reinstalled and thus the problem of swinging doors. HELP!

I do plan on replacing these doors in the future with new slabs so any suggestions on this topic would also be helpful.

I am also looking for "how to" info or VIDEO on installing new slabs, using a router and hinge template. Any suggestions?

I have tried to tighten the hinges. They are in all the way and spin. I think I might need to try the wooden dowel trick to tighten up the bite on these screws. Can I use wood putty/filler? Will this work the same?

Now, please don't take offense as I truly mean none. When the door is open it swings completely shut but doesn't latch on its own? When the SAME door is closed but not latched it swings open? This sounds like a very smoothly operating door. I expect MINE to swing open and close. Where's the problem? If DIFFERENT doors move only ONE direction on their own then that's another issue. Can you please clarrify? Concerning the glue/wood filler; I've used the filler method with much success. But, give it a couple days to dry before drilling a small pilot hole.

The problem I have are doors that swing closed (i.e. I open a bedroom door, in my case I leave them open for air circulation, and they swing shut part-way so that I need to use a door stop to keep them open. In another instance, I have a door that when I push it shut, if I don't latch it, it will swing open again.)

Suggestions?

Also, I have recently purchased (second-hand) a hing-butt template and router for the purpose of hanging new slabs (as time and funds permit). Any suggestions or safety tips?

The reason that doors close or open on their own is that they are not plumb and level.
You can shim under the hinges with old utility knife blades, or any other thin shim, to stop it.
Just loosen a hinge or two and slip the shim behind it where it can't be seen, and re-tighten the hinge. Experiment a bit until you balance the doors.
As for loose (stripped) hinge screws, I've always used wooden kitchen matches with the heads off, or toothpicks, to fill the holes. No glue or pilot holes are necessary, and it works instantly.
Just tap them in and break them off flush.
Old dog. Old tricks. Works for me.
Good luck!

No!! you cant use wood putty to make fixing holes tighter as it take a long time for wood putty to set and the hinge fixing would just fall out, use the wooden dowl system all you need is a splinter of wood to insert into the fixing hole to get a better fixing, I hope this helps a little.
