I have a concrete block garage to which I am going to apply vinyl siding. Would 1x3 or 1x4 furring with 3/4 foam board between the strips work? My concern is that I could only use short nails and not have sufficient holding power. I will apply the furring with construction adhesive and tapcon fasteners. I haven't started so I am open to suggestions.
