over the past 15 yrs we have tried several methods to paint an old Masonry building, only to have it peal again ,within two years. Help, what else can we do with out sideing this building. We used drylock the last time, after powerwashing the building first.

Talk to mikemerrit in the painting forum about a Sherwin Williams product called Loxon. Its purported to be the last word in the paint line for stopping masonry salts from breaking the bond between the substrate and topcoat.
If it's a flat roof when was the last time the cap sheet was inspected? Moisture from the roof, or an inside source, traveling through the block will delaminate any paint or film coating. Possbily sandblasting and a breatheable pigmented masonry stain would be a better choice. Possibly the paint used in the past is not extensible enough over the termperature range or it doesn't suit environmental conditions. Maybe an elastomeric coating is the answer.
Mike is a good guy. Talk to him.

I have been out of town, so I would like to take time to answer your responce, We do have elastomeric coating on the roof of this building, as yes it is a flat roof, an old store front type of building.I had not thought of using it on the side of the building, I will also try you advice with the Sherwin Williams people.
