My dad and I are trying to build me a room in the basement of a split-level home. We have to dry wall two walls (one with a window) and build two other walls (one with a door at one end and a sliding door at the other). We know how to do the dry-walling...but what we have never done before is build the other walls. What is the easiest way to build the two walls so that they won't fall down on me?? One wall is about 15ft long and 7.9 ft high...and the one with the two doors is 12ft long and 7.9 ft high. If anyone knows anything about this, it would help so much! Thanks!

Hi mandi619,theres a lot more to building a wall, then just nailing 2x4's.Have you thought about how your going to anchor the bottom plate to the floor?I am assuming your basement is cement. How about electric?Am sure your going to have outlets in your room. All of this is done before the drywall is installed. To build a wall thats going to have 2 doors(one entry door and one sliding door)is alot harder then building a wall without them. You might want to hire a contractor to do your framing for you,and a electrictrisn to do your wiring. You can install the drywall and finish. If thats out the question,i suggest you buy a book on rough framing and read up on that. There are some good books out there that show you step by step what to do.Sorry thats the best i can for you.
Good Luck
