It is my intent to bring a natural gas line out of a crawlspace and run it about 70' for a gas BBQ on a deck. Can I use the flexible yellow gas line for this? Is there a minimium height requirement that it has to be off of the ground? How far apart can the hangers be? Drip Lines? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Paulypfunk

The best place to obtain this information is at your cities building and safety department office. Codes vary.

There is no way I can tell you specifically what method will meet the codes or type of gasline to use.

What I can tell you is that I am not aware of any place where plastic gasline is code above ground. It has to be buried. The codes define the depths and a permit will most likely be required.

An alternate source would be to discuss the plans with a licensed to install gasline plumber in your area.

The pipe dia meter is also a factor that must be considered over that 70 foot length. Too small a diameter pipe would deliver too little gas for even a BBQ to operate correctly.
